Description

Brainstorming is the mass generation of ideas around a problem by a group of people. It can involve a wide variety of techniques that promote and enhance the contribution of ideas from an individual team member or the group as a whole. The term was originally popularized by marketing executive Alex Osborn in the context of “storming” a problem with solutions in group thinking sessions. Common elements across brainstorming techniques include a well-defined problem, a focus on quantity over quality of ideas, building on other people’s ideas, and avoiding the criticism of ideas during the idea generation session.
